Travelling to School
Our School Travel Plan
Bishops Cannings School Travel Plan can be found by clicking here. (February 2023)
Parking at School
As with many village primary schools, there is limited parking close to the school during drop off (8.30 - 9 am) and pick up times (2.45 - 3.15 pm). We offer a number of alternative options for parents to use to ensure children get to school safely and to avoid congestion around the school site.
At all times, we ask parents and visitors to drive carefully around the school and are considerate of other parents and our neighbours.
Travelling to School
School Bus: If children live within our school catchment, they are entitled to a free bus pass. This can be obtained from Wiltshire Council. If children do not live within the catchment area, parents are able to purchase a bus pass for children to use. Please contact Wiltshire Council Passenger Transport. Transport - Wiltshire Council
Parking: We ask parents not to park outside the school or on Bourton Road at the start of the day due to the heavy volume of traffic and narrowness of the lane. Parking is available at The Crown Inn and the Village Hall.
Drop and Go: Every morning there is a drop and go system where parents can drive up to the school gates and staff will open car doors for children to exit the car and enter school safely.
Travelling from School
School Bus - as with the morning route, please contact Passenger Transport to obtain further details on bus passes. The bus leaves the school at 3.05 pm and a member of staff checks the children are all on board and have seat belts on.
Walking Bus - parents can sign up to the walking bus by completing the form on parent mail. The walking bus is led by two members of staff who walk the children to The Crown Inn car park. The children arrive at the pub car park at approximately 3.20 pm.
Parking - parents are able to park at the school for the end of the day pick up. However, due to congestion and ensuring the safety of children, we encourage parents to park at either the Village Hall or The Crown Inn Car Park.
Parents must not park in either bus bay at any point during drop off or pick up.
Parents and Visitors must not park in the designated disabled parking spot outside the school gate unless they have an official Blue Badge Permit.
